Optimizing Airfoil Aerodynamic Characteristics by Using Proposed CSA-KJ Method

Combined with the cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) and Kutta–Joukowski (KJ) theorem, a CSA-KJ optimization method was proposed to improve airfoil aerodynamic characteristics in this work. The fourth-order constant-free polynomial function employed describe profile. KJ loop lift of taken as objective function, CSA applied iteratively update method, which used optimize NACA4412 airfoil. results demonstrate that optimized effect on lift-drag ratio becomes increasingly more significant increase incoming wind speed, it has best performance at an angle attack 0°. Compared airfoil, average maximum coefficients CSA-KJ4412 have increased. Meanwhile, pressure difference distribution is improved, characteristic better. From this, can be seen provide effective way other airfoils.
